The awaited day

Both teams are now in Valencia. FC Barcelona arrived today and will have their "siesta" in a Hotel in the area of the city that has been described as Madrid's. The local police have promised to keep the fans away so the Catalans can have a sleep.

Kings Cup

The kings cup seems to be a good place to start this blog. Tomorrow is the 2011 final which will take place in Valencia in the Mestalla stadium.
The two teams that are playing are FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
In previous years the cup hasn't being taken that seriously by the big teams but since 2009 when FC Barcelona won 6 titles in one year the cup has been taken more seriously.
The cup is played by the first and second division which are professional leagues, the first five classified from each group in the two b groups and the champions of each of the third league groups. The clubs second teams are not allowed to take part.
Last season Real Madrid lost to AD Alcorcon who were then playing in the two B semi pro league but generally there are few surprises as most of the rounds are played over two legs.
The two teams played each other at the weekend in the Bernabeu, Real Madrid's stadium and the result was 1-1. The are also due to play in the two legs of the Champions League semi-final next week and the week after. It is unusual for the top Spanish teams to play each other four times in seventeen days.
